PSV Women also wins the second league match of the season. Roeland ten Berge 's team turned around a 1-0 deficit at FC Utrecht in the second half, thanks to two goals by Riola Xhemaili. The Swiss attacker has already scored three goals in the first two league games.
The first half starts sharply for PSV Women. Feeder Laura Strik gets the first chance early on, but her effort goes just wide of the FC Utrecht goal. Not much later Nina Nijstad gets an opportunity after a tight cross from Chimera Ripa, but she does not manage to head the ball towards the goal. In the same minute Chimera herself gets in a promising position inside the penalty area, but again the ball goes wide. Despite this strong opening phase of PSV, FC Utrecht manages to open the score in the 33rd minute. From a corner the home team headed the ball home: 1-0. Shortly before half-time FC Utrecht got another big chance, but it ended up just beside the goal.
Second half
After halftime, FC Utrecht starts where they ended in the first half: with a big chance. However, a distance shot is easily caught by Nicky Evrard. In the 68th minute PSV Women scores the equalizer: Riola Xhemaili heads the ball in after an excellent cross from Renate Jansen.
With the 1-1 on the board, PSV Women push forward and look for the second goal. In the 73rd minute, FC Utrecht receives a red card after Chimera Ripa was held up on her way to goal. PSV takes advantage of the overtime situation and keeps pressing. In the end it is again Riola Xhemaili who scores the winning goal in the 87th minute: 1-2. After an exciting final phase, PSV Women thus take home the three points.
