Both teams showed the necessary fighting spirit. The Head Coach therefore complimented the opponent: "Go Ahead Eagles played very well. They fought for every ball. At times we struggled but in the end we won. We worked hard for it. These wins also count. We had the moments to decide the game."
Over the line
"It wasn't top-notch today, but we win it," the captain reflected to ESPN's camera. "Some games you just have to get over the line and this was one of those. It wasn't good but I'm happy with the win. Positionally we were not good, they picked us apart too easily. Go Ahead Eagles did that well. It could have fallen differently but you should never give up."
Coming to win
"It was a tough match," added Cody Gakpo. "In the end we won, which is positive. But we have to analyze it well and be there again on Saturday." The striker took the 0-1 on the slipper after a sharp pass from Eran Zahavi. He is happy with his goal, but he also sees plenty to improve: "They can tap a nice ball. It wasn't good enough today. But we win it and that's what we came for."
