Head coach Phillip Cocu on Friday afternoon traditionally looked ahead to the weekend's match. Saturday night, PSV travels to Friesland for a match at sc Heerenveen. A tricky duel, Cocu believes. "We can't go into the match on 80-90% effort. We are all about winning."
Cocu wants to appear optimal to the game
For the past three years, PSV has lost on visits to sc Heerenveen. It's a statistic Cocu doesn't want to get too heavy on, but the head coach says he wants to break that series quickly. "I'm not really into statistics, but it certainly won't be an easy away game for us. In football, there are always some opponents that are less like you. You can't really put a finger on that, but it appears that Heerenveen is one of those opponents for us. We have to appear at our best on Saturday to get a good result," Cocu said. In the league so far, traditional rivals Ajax and Feyenoord are the only teams that have yet to lose points. For Cocu, however, that is no reason to despair. "Only after eight or so games do you get a picture of what the proportions are in the league. We have to make sure we are then where we want to be and that is of course as high as possible."
Locadia's absence
Locadia's absence also came up during the press interview. The striker did not appear on the training field Friday morning without anything to report. "We cannot accept something like that," Cocu said. "There are consequences to something like this and that is why he is not in the squad on Saturday. After the weekend we will sit down together to solve this issue." In front of PSV TV, the head coach explains his decision.
