PSV Women resume the league on Sunday with a home game against sc Heerenveen. After the elimination in Europe, Roeland ten Berge 's team awaits an ideal opportunity to regain confidence against an opponent whose results have been clearly in PSV Women's favor in recent years.
PSV Women face the duel with sc Heerenveen with confidence. In the sixteen previous encounters, the Eindhoven team was clearly the superior side, with eleven wins, three draws and only two defeats. The goal difference underlines that superiority: 48 goals for and 16 against. Recent confrontations also speak in PSV's favor. In September 2022 they won narrowly 1-0, but convincing victories of 5-0 and 5-1 followed in 2024 and 2025, respectively. All that points to a team that traditionally has a grip on Heerenveen and is again the favorite for the upcoming duel. In the latter game, Riola Xhemaili, Renate Jansen and Fenna Kalma (twice) were goalscorers. The fifth goal was an own goal.
After setback back through
Roeland ten Berge 's team lost to Eintracht Frankfurt (3-1) last Thursday, eliminating PSV Women from the UEFA Women's Europa Cup. Last week the team lost narrowly 1-2, but unfortunately PSV Women could not turn the match in Frankfurt around. After this defeat, the next match is scheduled three days later.
Heerenveen
The team from the North is currently in ninth place with four points. They have only managed to win one game and have otherwise lost five and drawn once. Apart from NAC Breda, it is the team with the most goals against this season (19).
Own qualities
With PSV Women's attacking efficiency, the team seems well equipped for another productive match Sunday. Nina Nijstad is already good for four goals and six assists this season, showing that she can both finish and create. Riola Xhemaili is even more assured with nine goals and an assist, while Renate Jansen, with her two goals and six assists, actually excels at passing. Lore Jacobs also contributes solidly to the wide offensive threat with four goals and as many assists. Together, these players show that PSV Women are not dependent on a single goal scorer, but have multiple weapons that can break a game open.
