Young

Young PSV started the new season in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie excellently. In the opening game at PSV Campus De Herdgang FC Emmen was beaten 3-1. Robin van Duiven crowned himself the goldcrest with two goals.

Led by new coach Stijn Schaars and with a lot of young talent from PSV O19, Monday night's game lacked KKD experience. However, there was no sign of that in the game: Young PSV took the initiative from the first whistle. In the 17th minute, this resulted in Delé Thomas' opening goal. The 18-year-old outside player cut inside after a pass from Tygo Land and fired a controlled shot into the short corner.

Second half
The Drenthe defense continued to struggle with Delé's threatening actions. Shortly after halftime, that resulted in a penalty kick when the creator of the first goal was intercepted illegally. Robin van Duiven took advantage of the opportunity without fail: 2-0. In the following minutes Young PSV had several chances through Eus Waayers, Esmir Bajraktarević and again Delé Thomas to decide the game definitively, but FC Emmen stayed alive.

In the 78th minute, the visitors created tension with the tying goal. Yet in the closing stages, Van Duiven put an end to all doubts. With a low, placed free kick from about twenty meters he decided the game: 3-1.

Besides the victory, there were more bright spots for Young PSV. For the first time since entering professional football, there were two 16-year-olds on the pitch: Jaïro Beerens and Fabian Merién. For Beerens, as well as for Noah Fernandez and Sol Sidibé, this also meant the debut in professional football. Delé Thomas crowned himself star of the match.
