Psv U21 started the season with a draw. At De Herdgang, the game ended 2-2 thanks in part to goals by defenders Bram van Vlerken and Jordy de Wijs.

Van Vlerken reverses deficit
With Phillip Cocu as one of the many hundreds of spectators at De Herdgang, Young PSV started well. The team claimed possession of the ball and came up with some nice attempts from distance, of which the debutant Mauro Júnior was the most dangerous. The opening goal, however, fell on the other side. Diemers hit the bar with a free kick and the rebound fell to Serrarens. It was a piece of cake for the striker, who scored the 0-1 from close range. Young PSV, which got away well before when Van den Hurk hit the post, had to recover from that for a while, but equalized before the break through Bram van Vlerken. The back steamed up the right side of the pitch, combined with Lammers and finished effectively: 1-1.

Wonderful goal De Wijs insufficient
After about fifteen minutes of play in the second half, Young PSV took the lead. Jordy de Wijs showed, just like a year ago against VVV-Venlo, that he had a beautiful free kick at his disposal. Subtly, but just hard enough, he left goalkeeper Bednarek defenseless via the underside of the crossbar: 2-1. That was the signal for De Graafschap to go on the offensive in the direction of Yanick van Osch's goal. They were unsuccessful for a long time, until Van den Hurk's header in the 88th minute left Van Osch with no chance. The visitors then chased the winning goal, but it did not materialize.
