For Marco van Ginkel it was a great night in Istanbul. PSV won over Galatasaray SK partly because of a goal by the captain. "It was not a simple evening, but we gave away very little," he said.
Being sharp
The midfielder tells RTL 7. Over two games, PSV won from the Turkish team 7-2. PSV started with a good starting position, yet it was not easy according to Van Ginkel: "We knew we had to be sharp. They wanted to catch up, but still we scored the goals. All in all, we were the better team."
Goal grabbed
The second goal of the evening came from the feet of the captain. Pointed at by Mario Götze, Van Ginkel worked the ball into the short corner and made it 2-0. "Always nice to score goals," the midfielder said. "I saw there was more space forward and I grabbed my moment. I got a good ball from Götze and finished it well. After the 1-0 we felt we were going to win. At the 2-0 it was done." In the next preliminary round of the Champions League, PSV will take on FC Midtjylland.
