A game with two faces ended with a big fat smile for PSV. After a lesser first half, PSV showed after halftime what qualities the team possesses. But head coach Mark van Bommel guards against opportunism. 'We always want to play football like this, but it's just not always possible.'
Not good
"The first half was not good from us," Van Bommel began his analysis. "The line-up was just not right which meant we could not put pressure on their defenders. Jeroen (Zoet, ed.) saved us which allowed us to pull the game to us after halftime."
Conversions
At halftime, Van Bommel showed some fragments from the first half, made some conversions in attack and instructed his midfielders to stand a little higher. "As a result, Mo quickly scored the 1-0 and we ran out to 3-0. The important thing then is to play it out in a businesslike manner. That didn't quite work out and that also has to do with our young group. Fortunately Jeroen saved us again."
'Not done'
The head coach therefore looked back on the match with a good feeling. "We always like to play football like we did in the second half. It's nice when it works and we know it can be done. Only it's not always possible," said Van Bommel, who does not want to get ahead of himself yet. "It's certainly not done. 3-0 is a very good result, but we must not think we are already there."
