Rick Karsdorp is from now on a PSV player. The 29-year-old right winger was transfer free after being under contract to AS Roma for the past seven years. The three-time Dutch national has signed a one-year contract with an option for an additional year.
With Rick Karsdorp, Director of Football Affairs Earnest Stewart adds almost three hundred games of experience at the highest level to the A-selection. In just over half of those matches, Rick plays for Italian side AS Roma. The other part he plays on behalf of Feyenoord, the club that trained him to become a professional footballer.
Drive, power and running ability
After years of foreign service, Rick is determined to succeed at PSV. "It's nice to be back in the Netherlands after seven years. My family and I are really looking forward to it," he says. "With my drive, power and running ability, I fit well with the game PSV wants to play. I want to show people here again the Rick of his best days, with good passes and useful crosses. At AS Roma I've had good and lesser periods, so let's go for a new good period. In which we become champions and we get as far as possible in the Champions League."
European experience
With nearly 60 games in European competitions, several finals and a UEFA Conference League title, Rick has plenty of international experience. He is known as a defensive iron fighter with a drive forward. For Earnest Stewart all the reason to bring him to the Philips Stadion.
"The departure of Jordan Teze had created a vacancy at the right-back position," he explained. "In the mix of talent and routine that makes up a selection, Rick brings European experience. He is familiar with the Eredivisie and with his speed fits the game of Peter Bosz. We are very happy to have him in house now."
