Malik Tillman makes an immediate switch to Bayer 04 Leverkusen. The German club acquires the 23-year-old midfielder from PSV. Tillman signs a contract until mid-2030 with his new employer.
The American international moved from FC Bayern Munich to PSV on a rental basis in the summer of 2023, and a scant year later the Eindhoven club acquired him permanently from Der Rekordmeister. Tillman grew into a mainstay within head coach Peter Bosz's team. With his goals, assists and also defensive work, he played a key role in winning two national titles. The right-legged player also made his mark several times in the European context.
Tillman heaved a sigh before uttering his parting words, "It is an understatement when I say that I experienced two great seasons at PSV. This club has made me the player and person I am today. None of this would have been possible without the insane support of our fans, who have always been very good to me. I am going to greatly miss the people I worked with at PSV and want to thank everyone around the club for everything. It's been a real pleasure, and I'm proud to hand over my shirt number to new arrival Ruben van Bommel."
For Director of Football Affairs Earnest Stewart it is a transfer with mixed feelings: "For Malik and for the club this is a wonderful step in many ways, but above all we are going to miss him a lot as a footballer and as a person. Thanks to his fine character he lay well in the group and on the pitch he showed incredible things. For both Malik and PSV it is a compliment that a club like Leverkusen is so eager to buy him. We wish Malik all the best, for now and in the future."
