PSV's selection is keen to recover from last Saturday's defeat to NAC Breda in the cup game. And not least Roger Schmidt. "Only the win counts in this game," it sounds through the Head Coach.
Fitness
Schmidt indicated that he does not expect any problems regarding the physical condition of his selection. "The fitness is fine. We don't have to hide behind the fact that we've run into a busy schedule. I see it as a great opportunity to directly revenge ourselves three days after the defeat against AZ. We are keen to show a positive reaction."
Improvement
"We evaluated last weekend's game and logically came to the conclusion that a lot of things need to be better. That performance obviously does not satisfy us," Schmidt explained. The 54-year-old coach thinks he knows in which aspects his team needs to show improvement. "Tomorrow it is important that we roll up our sleeves the entire match and fight for what we are worth. Creating open chances left much to be desired the previous match. In addition, we will have to be better on our guard for any counter-attacks."
Underestimation
Schmidt additionally guards against underestimation. "Matches in the cup tournament are often totally different from league matches. NAC will play all or nothing tomorrow. They have nothing to lose. It is up to us not to underestimate them and to advance to the semi-finals of the cup tournament. Then we will come closer and closer to winning the cup. I make no secret of the fact that the cup is high on our list of priorities," the coach concluded his preview.
