After a bizarre away game, PSV reached the quarterfinals of the UEFA Conference League in convincing fashion. Head coach Roger Schmidt saw an effective PSV play, he told ESPN.
Locked
"Our level was very high, over the whole match," Schmidt said. "We wanted to be at our best and go for goals from the start. In possession we constantly found solutions and every player asked for the ball a lot. In the sixteen-meter area I saw good positional play and we made the right decisions. By scoring twice in the first half, we locked up the game."
Chasing
PSV went into halftime with a two goal lead, but according to Schmidt PSV did continue to score: "At halftime I said to the team that we had to go for the third goal. One goal changes everything, including the atmosphere in the stadium. When FC Copenhagen score, they get more energy. The game had to be finished and for that, keeping the zero was also important."
Striker
One of the standouts today was Eran Zahavi, the striker accounted for two goals. Schmidt therefore has some positive words for him. "He is doing very well," the Head Coach said. "He works incredibly hard, also on the pitch. For young players, he shows himself to be a good role model. He is always chasing goals and is rewarding himself a lot now."
