It had been a while since PSV won a match in injury time. Against FC Emmen, substitute Maxi Romero provided relief with his first goal. After the first home game of the season, PSV is still winless with six points from two games.
Bravura
In the first game of significance in 202 days at Philips Stadium, PSV's intentions soon seem clear. Led by the bravura Noni Madueke and Mohamed Ihattaren - both new to Roger Schmidt's starting lineup - FC Emmen barely get off their own half in the opening stages. The entrance of the two talents makes PSV the youngest team since December 2014 and, in the process, one of the youngest ever in club history. An average of just 22 years and 302 days "old.
Mvogo saves, Madueke scores
Despite the good opening phase of that youthful team, the first serious chance of the game was for the visitors. After about a quarter of an hour, Yvon Mvogo had to make a serious effort to save De Vos. The Swiss reflex tapped the ball out of the crossbar and not much later he saw PSV take the lead. Halfway through the first half, Madueke easily ran the ball in after a tight cross from Philipp Max.

Bite through
PSV did not really bite through after that. Not even in the beginning of the second half. A number of beautiful dribbles by Donyell Malen and an attempt by Ryan Thomas did not result in the desired second goal and therefore FC Emmen could hold out hope for a result for a long time. Moreover, Mvogo prevents the equalizer twice between the 70th and 75th minute.
Romero saves PSV
It did not give PSV the wake-up call they needed, and shortly before time the visitors equalized when Mvogo misjudged a back pass from Olivier Boscagli and was too late to turn the rolling ball. PSV then pressed for time, getting another great chance through Donyell Malen, but had to wait until the very last minutes of injury time. Substitute Maxi Romero gives PSV the full amount with his first goal in red and white: 2-1.
