Head coach Phillip Cocu faced the press afterwards with double feelings. "The way we came back in the second half is good, but the first half didn't make sense at all," Cocu said.
Angry at halftime
In the first half, it was easy to see that Cocu was agitated in and in front of the dugout. He also told the press in the catacomb in the stadium. "I sat and hated myself on the bench. There were positives, but when we had to perform defensive work we didn't give home. If we want to lay claim to a title you always have to give everything. We didn't do that before halftime." In the second half, according to the head coach, that went a lot better. Still, PSV did not manage to express the chance advantage in the score. "I go back to Eindhoven with a bad feeling. We had enough chances, but did not capitalize on them enough. I said before the match that we had to be effective, afterwards it turns out why."
Penalties
Cocu finally addressed the penalty kick for sc Heerenveen and the penalty kick not given to PSV. "It was a hundred percent penalty kick for Heerenveen," Cocu felt. "There can be no misunderstanding about that. But if you give it to them, you have to put the ball on the spot for us as well. Twice even. I certainly don't want to hide behind these decisions, but it's sour that it cost us points this way."
