The women's team starts a new cup adventure today. Coach Rick de Rooij's team plays in the quarterfinals against PEC Zwolle, the same opponent as last week during the third round of the Eredivisie Cup.
PSV Women kick off at 7:30 p.m. at PSV Campus De Herdgang against the number six seed in the Women's Eredivisie. Due to the shutdown of the amateur competitions, clubs have entered the quarterfinals directly instead of eighth finals. PSV Women fell behind last Saturday against PEC Zwolle in the Eredivisie Cup but still won 6-1 with goals from Smits, Harrison, Kuijpers, Strik and Brugts.
At stake Friday night is a spot in the semifinals. The women's team reached the final of the national cup tournament in 2014, 2017 and 2018. The PSV Women's matchday squad is missing at least Kyah Simon, Georgina 'Gio' Carreras, Nurija van Schoonhoven and Nadia Coolen due to (minor) injuries.
The cup match will be broadcast live tonight via PSV's YouTube channel.
