For PSV, it is a lot easier this season to keep the zero than to score themselves. At least, if the numbers are to be believed. Against FC Twente, PSV will be eager to improve those numbers and get a good result.
Taking advantage of goal opportunities
The quantity of attempts is not the issue. PSV shot the most often in the league so far, with 210 attempts. Only 9 percent of those shots end up in the goal, and in home matches the percentage is 2 percent. It is perhaps the reason why the halftime score in PSV's matches has been 0-0 five times already, the most often of any club. However, there are also statistics that say the chances of a goal-fest are high. In FC Twente's eleven matches, 36 goals have already been scored. That is the highest number of all teams.
Defensive fortress
On the other hand, PSV does not need many goals either, because statistically the defense stands like a house. PSV only got five goals against, the least of all premier league clubs. Jeroen Zoet and Remko Pasveer together have kept the nil six times already. Only leaders Feyenoord can match them.
Former Twente players at PSV
There is a good chance that two former FC Twente players will play in a PSV shirt. Remko Pasveer started his career in Enschede and played 14 games for the Tukkers between 2003 and 2006. Luuk de Jong even became champion with FC Twente in 2010. He scored 39 times in 75 premier league matches for the club. He scored both for FC Twente against PSV and vice versa. Six players did that before him: Hallvar Thoresen, René van de Kerkhof, Piet Wildschut, John Bosman, Arnold Bruggink and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink.
