FC Groningen's striker duo is on a roll. After the winter break, Mimoun Mahi and Bryan Linssen scored eighteen of Groningen's twenty-five goals.
Assist against PSV
Mahi is FC Groningen's club top scorer with sixteen goals and has scored in the last four Eredivisie games for the Groningen team. Only Peter Houtman ever did better: in 1982 he scored seven games in a row for FC Groningen. Mahi never scored in five games against PSV, but did give the decisive assist in 2014 after an action down the left flank that made that year's edition end 1-1.
At least two goals
The rest of the team is also in fine form. FC Groningen won three of its last four games in the Eredivisie and also scored at least two goals each time in those four games. From April to August 2014, Groningen last put up a longer series with at least two goals, then in five games.
Faber
FC Groningen - PSV is also the meeting between coaches Ernest Faber and Phillip Cocu. Faber played 175 premier league games for PSV between 1992 and 2004 and was assistant coach there from 2012 to 2015, under both Dick Advocaat and Phillip Cocu. In the 2013-2014 season, he was interim coach for five games in Cocu's absence.
