At the post-match press conference against Feyenoord, head coach Phillip Cocu looked back on his team's play with satisfaction. "I enjoyed my team enormously today," the head coach said at Philips Stadium. Of course he was also happy with the victory, as it was necessary in the coach's opinion. "We needed this win."
Reaction head coach Phillip Cocu
"I enjoyed my team enormously for 65 minutes," Cocu began his analysis. "The reaction the team gave after the early deficit was very good. As a team you have to stand up at such a moment and we did that. Also considering the weather conditions this was very clever," he said referring to the heat in the stadium. Especially the way his PSV secured the win made Cocu proud. "I enjoyed the perception, the energy, and the field play. We showed that we are a unit again. We still have to be a little smarter sometimes by slowing down the game, for example, but we can't complain after this win."
Reaction Feyenoord coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst
Feyenoord coach Van Bronckhorst congratulated PSV on what he felt was a deserved win. "If you see the whole match, PSV was the better." To say he was not happy with the defeat, however, was an understatement. "We were balking at that. Especially because we were helped into the match by the quick 0-1. We forgot to play football after that and were pushed to the back. PSV were just good today." According to the coach, his team could have got a bit more out of the match. "We created a number of good chances, which didn't go in. We could have got more out of this game, but it wouldn't have been deserved," he concluded honestly.
