Phillip Cocu balks at 'unnecessary point loss'

Coach Phillip Cocu could not possibly be satisfied with his team's performance after PSV - Excelsior. He saw PSV give away the win against the Rotterdammers in the closing minutes. "We let it slip," the coach felt.

Phillip Cocu: Expensive point loss
"We let it slip after the 1-0," was Cocu's observation at the press conference. "The chances for the 2-0 were there, but we didn't exploit them. Then one thing should never happen," Cocu was referring to a goal against. However, it happened anyway. "That's immature of my team. We really gave it away. These are expensive points." Cocu did not only dwell on that goal after the game, by the way. A lot also went wrong up front, according to the coach. "We are not efficient enough, it appears. This should not happen to us too often again."

Fons Groenendijk: Rewarded with a point
Excelsior coach Fons Groenendijk was a lot happier behind the desk, especially since he did not see the equalizer coming. "I didn't expect that one," he said before praising his team. "I'm proud of the team, they worked hard for this. Maybe PSV away is the most difficult game of the season, but I believe you can get chances everywhere," said the coach, who was proved right. "We stayed in the game and were rewarded with a point."
