Head coach Peter Bosz was very complimentary about his team after the 5-2 victory over FC Utrecht. The coach even spoke of a top performance: 'From the goalkeeper to the forward, they played very well.'
A relatively easy victory over the number two in the Eredivisie.
"FC Utrecht is in great shape. Then when you come to visit here, you know it can be tricky. But it didn't get tricky. The boys applied good pressure, recovered balls quickly and generally played well."
Who did you think stood out?
"Above all, we saw a very good PSV. That starts with the goalkeeper and extends to the forwards. It was definitely a team performance. Also when you look at Perišić, who was unexpectedly at right back. He handled that well."
At halftime, however, it was still 1-1.
"Yes, I can imagine Utrecht drew strength from that. But we were the better team and in my opinion we really deserved to win. We put in a top performance today."
Why were you guys so good today?
"I don't know exactly what percentage of ball possession we had, but I think it was a lot. That's important because that means the opponent is constantly chasing us. Then when they have the ball they start resting instead of running free."
Didn't you find your team lax at times?
"I understand that it comes across that way, but I don't think so. You're referring to the ball loss in the first half, but that was more like fatigue so you just need too many actions."
You guys are currently sticking out head and shoulders above them.
"I think so too, but do we have to reach our level. If we don't, opponents can play football underneath."
Friday you play against FC Twente. Will any players return then?
"I assume Mauro and Rick will be available again. Jerdy I wonder and Sergiño anyway, but that won't last very long."
