PSV lost 1-2 to German top team FC Bayern Munich on Wednesday night. Peter Bosz 's team played a strong game and managed to put Bayern Munich under pressure for a long time, but fell just short at decisive moments. This leaves PSV stranded in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League, coach Peter Bosz and Ismael Saibari concluded afterwards.

PETER BOSZ

What are your first thoughts after this match?
"The disappointment prevails, although I am also proud of the way my team played. You are so close just before time. This team has developed well in this campaign, but in the end it was just not good enough. We played against an absolute top team and in that we showed ourselves, only unfortunately without reward."

What was the plan after the equalizer?
"At that point it was enough to go ahead, but almost immediately after that the ball was already in the net with us. It became a real switching game. Bayern continuously pinned us one-on-one, which made the margins incredibly small."

Are you satisfied with your team's play?
"I really can't blame the boys for anything. I asked them to work hard and they did. I asked them to play with guts and courage on the ball, and they did that too. In addition, there was not a single player of mine who played below his level. We really put Bayern in trouble."

Where did the points ultimately fall short in this Champions League campaign?
"Let me be honest: after the draw, I slept badly. In the first game it should have happened. Against Union we missed the points one hundred percent and we have ourselves to blame for that. The disappointment now is mainly in not getting to see who we would have played the next round against."

Did the players know after the 1-1 that you were virtually through?
"I told a few guys who were close to me and asked about it. Other than that, I wanted the team to keep doing what they were doing. We made a conscious decision not to, as Ismael nicely put it, 'park the bus.'"

ISMAEL SAIBARI

How big is the disappointment afterwards?
"That is very big. We were very close and played a good game, with many chances created. In the end, it comes down to details and in that we were just not good enough tonight. We could have chosen to stay at 1-1 and park the bus, but we wanted to keep our style of play and go for the 2-1. In hindsight, that's difficult."

Did you not reward yourself enough in the first half?
"Maybe so. We had a lot of chances, but the goalkeeper also played a strong game and had some good saves. That's part of it sometimes, too."
