For head coach Peter Bosz , the day could not have gone better: a contract extension until 2028 and a convincing 3-0 victory over Feyenoord. Peter Bosz and Guus Til called the strong start and intensity the key to success. "We played with tremendous sharpness," he said.
PETER BOSZ
You extended your contract at PSV. Why did that take a while?
"A while ago I indicated that I was out and that was true. I wanted to stay and have everything well established, that has now been achieved and I am extremely happy with that. I feel really good, top fit and have worked really hard to finally be able to train at this level."
When were you out that you wanted to stay?
"For me, it was never a question of whether I wanted to stay at PSV. We have a great group of players and I work extremely well with the management, which is certainly not a given. I enjoy it here immensely and so does my wife. At the same time, it's something you have to think hard about."
In what have you developed yourself in recent years?
"In the two and a half years at PSV I developed myself in many areas. Nowadays I no longer give the training sessions myself, but focus mainly on observation, and that also requires courage. In addition, I continue to gain substantive insights that I can take and apply from game to game."
What do you have in mind this season and the coming seasons at PSV?
"With 56 points you don't become champion, so we will have to grab even more in the coming period. That will only succeed if we keep playing with the attitude we showed today. For me, the challenge lies in how to keep stimulating such a group: how long do you keep that up in the Netherlands? We have been able to get strong players in the last three years and it is up to me to make a team of them and keep pushing them."
How do you look back on today's game?
"We played with enormous sharpness, were right on top of things and that against the number two of the Netherlands and after the midweek European game with Bayern Munich. I am really very proud of how the boys did. There were attacks among them that were really great."
What do you think is the reason it is doing so well?
"If you start looking back at the last ten of our duels, we started well every time. Today, despite the lack of goals, we also persisted in creating chances."
GUUS TIL
Are you happy with Peter Bosz's contract extension?
"Absolutely. We have had many successes together, so I am very happy about it."
What went well today against Feyenoord?
"Feyenoord did not cover well through, leaving Ismael Saibari and I free and allowing us to keep building the game through each other."
What did you think on the pitch after twenty minutes when the score was 3-0?
"I hoped we were going to get through and we didn't give them any hope that the score could still be turned. We did that well, although no more goals fell."
Indeed, after the 3-0, no more goals fell. How is that possible?
"It is very important to keep the ball in the team then. In the beginning we were more direct and then we started to play more ball possession. We still had many chances, but we didn't take advantage of them."
Is it difficult to keep focus with so many points ahead?
"Our goal is also to finish the second half of the season as the best, to stay sharp and so we have to keep that focus."
