After a spectacular 3-2 win over Liverpool, PSV coach Peter Bosz looked back on the match with satisfaction during the press conference. He spoke about the intensity of the game, the performance of his players and the exciting knockout phase that now awaits. He also had praise for young talent Tygo Land and was pleased with the return of Nagalo. Still, a feeling lingers that there could have been more in it in the league phase.
Did you have a nice evening?
"It's usually a fun night at PSV. As a coach, I enjoyed watching it. It wasn't Liverpool's strongest team, but there was still a lot of quality on the pitch. We countered that with our football, and that usually went well."
What did you think was the best moment?
"I don't think I can pick just one moment, because the overall package made it a really fun match. Liverpool contributed to that as well, because they put us under full pressure. We did the same for that matter. In addition, there were good and bad moments on both sides and beautiful goals fell."
How did you watch Tygo Land tonight?
"With extra interest, and I thought he did very well. That's why I didn't change him. Beforehand I thought: first time at this level, I will probably have to change him after sixty minutes. But that wasn't necessary at all. He has been training very well lately, but of course we have a strong midfield. Nice that it worked out this way."
What do you think of the potential opponents?
"I don't think it's ideal. We have already played against Juventus and Feyenoord is of course a Dutch club. But it is as it is, and we are waiting for the draw."
How do you look back on the league phase?
"Mixed. The feeling remains that we missed out at Brest and at home against Sporting. Had that turned out differently, you would have been in the first eight. On the other hand, I am also satisfied. Normally you would have lost away from Paris Saint-Germain and at home against Liverpool as well."
And as a format?
"I do think it's exciting and fun. There was a scenario where we were out of the loop. Beforehand, we had agreed on which stands I wanted to know. I don't need to hear everything."
What did you think of Nagalo's substitution?
"I am very happy that he is back. His shoulder is good again and he fell in well. On the ball he was calm. We are going to get to know him better now and hope he can continue this."
