Alassane Pléa is sidelined for the time being with a serious injury, in which the cartilage in his knee has been damaged. PSV does not expect to be able to call on the 32-year-old attacker for the remainder of the first half of the season and (part of) the second half.
Pléa sustained the injury in last Sunday's away game against FC Twente. The French-born will undergo surgery later this week. "This is a very unpleasant outcome, above all for Alassane and of course also for PSV," said Director of Football Affairs Earnest Stewart. "We wish Alassane all the best and are going to assist him as best we can in his rehabilitation journey."
PSV will at the same time consider (temporarily) strengthening the striker's position.
