After winning the return match against Apollon Limassol, PSV has reached the group stage of the Europa League. A lot is written about PSV, always and everywhere. The editors of PSV.nl read everything and select the most important messages you don't want to miss.
Jorrit Hendrix: 'Then it's easy to play football '
After the match, Jorrit Hendrix spoke to the Eindhovens Dagblad. He was in good spirits about PSV's form, but saw areas for improvement: "Defensively we were good, but when we then conquered the ball we lost it too quickly or were too sloppy." The midfielder saw that it was already over after the first goal: "After the 1-0, the heads went down and Apollon's players no longer did what was asked. Then it's easy to play football for a while."
Pingpong match
Donyell Malen was the man in form during the match. Two goals and two assists for the striker. "It was a bit of a ping-pong match, tap-tap-tap back and forth. Only later did we stay calm and play out the chances well," Malen told Eindhovens Dagblad. Which of his goals or assists was the best, he did not know how to tell: "Every moment I can be important is beautiful."
Reon Boeringa: 'Malen is a top talent '
Football International analyst Reon Boeringa was enthusiastic about Donyell Malen's performance yesterday: "He is incredibly fast, goal-oriented and has a good dribble. But he also has very good technique in the small space." The journalist thinks that the striker's qualities will be rewarded: "Malen is a top talent and it is a matter of time before he joins Oranje."
Mark van Rijswijk: 'Baumgartl has been a good purchase '
After the away game against Apollon Limassol, it was mainly about PSV's attack, but Fox Sports analyst Mark van Rijswijk was also very impressed with another important PSV player: Timo Baumgartl. "In the last six games, PSV has only conceded one goal and that's since Baumgartl has been in the starting lineup," van Rijswijk told Voetbalpraat. "It's been a good purchase and PSV is just in a good position now."
Europa League Throwback
Omroep Brabant looks back at the last time PSV made it to the group stage of the Europa League. That was in the 2014-2015 season. Again, PSV started in the preliminary rounds with matches against Austrian Sankt Pölten and Shachtjor Salihorsk from Belarus. In a group with Estoril-Praia, Dinamo Moscow and Panathinaikos, PSV managed to keep their heads above water, but in the Round of 16, Zenit St. Petersburg proved to be a size too big for the Eindhoven players.
