Winning is paramount for PSV in the coming weeks. That is what coach Phillip Cocu said at the press conference Friday afternoon at De Herdgang. Together with his team, the coach is facing a busy period in which Phillip Cocu wants PSV to climb the league table.
Series down
In a three-week span, PSV plays seven matches that include the double encounter with FC Bayern Munich. "There are a lot of matches coming up, and they are all important. The most important thing? Winning tomorrow," Cocu was decided. "We will have to put up a good series in order not to increase the gap in the league. We're going to do everything we can to do that in a good way, but winning comes first."
Number of doubtful cases
At least PSV must still do so without the injured Jürgen Locadia and Jorrit Hendrix. Santiago Arias was the last of the internationals to return yesterday, but has 'returned well', according to the coach. Cocu: "There are still some doubtful cases. Tomorrow we will decide on those."
Praise for Zoet
Upon request, Cocu also took a brief look back at the goalkeeper carousel at Oranje. Jeroen Zoet lost his place under the crossbar at the Dutch national team to Maarten Stekelenburg. It surprised Cocu somewhat and praised his goalkeeper during the press conference. "Jeroen has acted like a professional and trained well at Oranje. At a high level. He has become mentally very strong, has developed well and I think he is very good goalkeeper. At Oranje he didn't play, here he does."
