Mark van Bommel thought 1-1 was a fair reflection of what he saw on the pitch for more than 90 minutes on Sunday. "I think the proportions were close," he said.

Good start Ajax
"After a good start by Ajax, we had to recover," the head coach began his analysis at the press conference. "They get four good chances before halftime. Jeroen (Zoet, ed.) saved us cleverly a number of times," said Van Bommel, who felt PSV could have also scored before halftime. "We got three or four good chances in the changeover. If the last pass is good then you have two men free in front of the goalkeeper."

Recap
In the second half the picture was somewhat reversed in Van Bommel's opinion. "Then we actually started well. Halfway through we gave up a goal somewhat by accident and I think it was very clever that we came back after that. The boys recovered. I can enjoy that, especially given the busy schedule."

Mitroglou
That goal came about after the coach brought in Cody Gakpo. He could not bring in another striker, Kostas Mitroglou, due to injury. "When you are behind you start looking at where you can change something. You look at what the match needs. Mitro was unfortunately not available, but Cody filled in incredibly well."

No conclusions
Van Bommel then did not want to draw premature conclusions towards the rest of the season. "A team goes through a certain development during a season. I am very happy to see that we are so fit and that we are playing stronger and stronger football."
