A few minutes later the goalkeeper could not save: Schilder headed the home team into a 1-0 lead. Haar's team created few chances in the second half as well. A volley by Verreth went well over and goalkeeper Verhulst could easily punch away a shot by Gudmundsson. The Icelander went close twice just before the end, but his efforts went nowhere. The promising team's final offensive came too late and did not produce an equalizer.
