Young PSV did not manage to conclude the beloftentopper against Jong Ajax victoriously. At Sportcomplex De Toekomst, Peter Uneken's team was unable to overcome an early deficit.
Early deficit
After only five minutes, the Amsterdammers took the lead. Ryan Gravenberch played himself free and shot into the far corner. Young PSV tried to fight their way back into the game and had an opportunity to score through Schoonbrood, but the midfielder's shot was turned away by Kotarski. After about half an hour the good keeper Ruiter saved Uneken's team from a bigger deficit. The keeper made two good saves on dangerous Jong Ajax efforts. The now substitute Sidibe played himself free before the break, but his attempt ended up wide of the goal.
Bad luck in rounding
Psv U21 immediately went on the attack in the second half. After fifteen minutes of play this resulted in a good chance. In the transition the ball came via Sidibe to Ledezma. However, the midfielder saw the Jong Ajax goalkeeper in the way. More than a quarter of an hour before time, Catic also had the opportunity to score, but he found the hands of Kotarski with his header on a pass from Gomes. PSV tried to force a goal in the remainder of the match, but it was Jong Ajax who decided the match in injury time through Max de Waal.
