PSV Women's Veerle Buurman, Fleur Stoit, Emma Frijns and Robine Lacroix did good business at the O20 World Cup in Colombia. They won the first match 2-0 against Costa Rica. The Dutch team hopes to make it to the top this World Cup. It is only the third time that the Dutch have participated in this tournament. At its World Cup debut in 2018, the Orange reached the quarterfinals, where it surprised with a fourth-place finish in 2022.

It was an extra nice game for PSV defender Veerle Buurman; she scored the opening goal midway through the first half. The final score came on the scoreboard fifteen minutes before time when Eva Oude Elberink fired in the second Dutch goal.

Scoop
This World Cup, FIFA is introducing something new. Instead of VAR, Video Support will be used. This will give both coaches two opportunities to initiate a challenge and call the referee to the screen. They may do this at times when they think they are being disadvantaged. The system is derived from something that has been used in field hockey for some time: the so-called video deployment. If the challenge is declared valid by the referee, you keep it. If, on the other hand, the call proves incorrect, you lose the challenge and have to make do with one less for the rest of the game.
