Head coach Mark van Bommel was pleased that PSV showed its best side against Fortuna Sittard after a turbulent week. With a 5-0 win, the team answered after a week in which much was said about PSV. 'I enjoyed the boys and the crowd,' the head coach stressed.
"I'm happy we won," Van Bommel said shortly after the game. "I enjoyed the boys and the crowd. How they are behind it in these difficult times, top," Van Bommel said in the catacomb of the Philips Stadium. "Of course there is pressure. I have always had faith in the boys," he continued. "I constantly see them doing a lot of good things and the atmosphere is really good. Of course, that should always be the case, but in the situation we're in, that really says something."
Whether this win is the prelude to recovery, Van Bommel could not yet judge. "Crisis, yes. Internally it has really been banging, but we have not brought all that out to the outside world. And it doesn't mean that after a 5-0 win it is suddenly calm. But it does help," he concluded.
Malen wants to continue
Donyell Malen jacked up his moyenne with a goal. His 11th of the season and first since returning from injury. "They weren't fun weeks," he told FOX Sports. "You have to move on and you know there will always be games where you can turn everything around again. We're just winning well here. Now move on."
