FC Utrecht, cupfighter from recent past

Over a decade ago, FC Utrecht was a real cup fighter. The team from the city of Dom even won the KNVB Cup twice in a row at the beginning of this century. In 2003 by beating Feyenoord 4-1 in De Kuip and a year later by beating FC Twente 1-0 in the same Kuip.

Twice in four days
PSV will play FC Utrecht twice in four days. On Sunday Phillip Cocu's team visits Stadion Galgenwaard for a league game against the Utrecht team, while tonight at 20:45 the quarterfinals of the KNVB Cup are scheduled. FC Utrecht qualified for the quarterfinals by easily beating Achilles '29 in Groesbeek. The team from the Jupiler League was defeated 0-5. The team from Domstad is having a strong season anyway. Just like PSV, FC Utrecht is still unbeaten in their own stadium and partly because of that, the team of former PSV assistant coach Erik ten Hag is back in the top of the Eredivisie.

Bart Ramselaar
Bart Ramselaar is one of FC Utrecht's standouts this season. And that while the midfielder, who was born in Amersfoort, was still playing with the UMPs a year ago. The talent started playing football at VVZA and ended up in the FC Utrecht youth academy via Roda '46. Last season he made his debut in the main squad and this season the tally already stands at twenty matches and five goals.
