Many media feared for FC Twente's sporting future this summer. After bankruptcy was averted in the spring, the club tightened its belt considerably. Big names like Felipe Gutiérrez and Hakim Ziyech left. Their places were taken by rental players such as Enes Ünal, Yaw Yeboah and Bersant Celina.
Surprisingly good
The question was whether Manchester City's mercenaries would be able to make up for the absence of the strongmen. After eleven games, that seems to be working out quite well for now. Enes Ünal is second on the top scorers list behind Feyenoord's Nicolai Jørgensen. The Turkish talent has already scored seven goals. Bersant Celina is also scoring lustily, with four goals so far. As a result, FC Twente is in a neat sixth place. Ünal, Yeboah and Celina still account for 65 percent of FC Twente's goals.
Challenger in Eindhoven
PSV will thus have its hands full with René Hake's team. Twente will be betting on a win, as three points would put FC Twente even more firmly in the left-hand row. PSV won its last five premier league matches against FC Twente, but at the same time PSV has never won six in a row against the Enschedeans. If PSV wins, it will keep the pressure on Ajax and Feyenoord in the battle for the top of the league table. An interesting encounter, then, for both sides.
