Young PSV played against Helmond Sport on Monday night at the Jan Louwers Stadium. Young PSV started the game well and looked emphatically on the attack. Kalezic's team did not get any real big chances in the early stages. A shot by Vloet in the tenth minute was the most threatening, but did not pose any problems for the Helmond Sport goalkeeper. After that, the game bounced back and forth. The visitors created few chances and goalkeeper Pasveer was hardly in trouble. After more than half an hour Boljević had to give Young PSV the lead. The striker was sent off and could only get to goalkeeper Van der Steen. He rounded the keeper, but a defender managed to get the ball off the line. Moments later a good attack on the right allowed Vloet to shoot in. Now the goalkeeper could pick the ball out of the corner. Both teams went into the break without a goal.

In the second half, the picture of play did not change. Young PSV was better and had the best chances. After almost fifteen minutes in the second half, Young PSV quickly converted through Ritzmaier. He got the ball back from Schaars in the sixteen. His shot on the turn went just over the Helmond Sport goal. The visitors' biggest chance came from the foot of Elbers. He entered the penalty area from the left side. The shot went over Pasveer's goal via the crossbar. Moments later a sharp cross from Tamata could not be tapped in by Van Overbeek and Quekel. Van Overbeek had the perfect chance to give Young PSV the lead three minutes before time. He soloed through the Helmond Sport defense, but was too sloppy in his finishing. His shot went wide. After ninety minutes the scoreboard showed the same score that both teams started with.
