PSV has extended the contract of Jesper Uneken by two years. The 20-year-old striker still had a commitment until the summer of 2025. Both parties have now agreed on an extension until mid-2027.
Jesper Uneken has been playing at PSV Academy since 2011, where he has developed into a real goalkeeper. The Bosch native proved that to the general public in his debut for PSV 1 in the league game against AZ last season. Just five minutes after his entrance, he hit the target and signed for the 5-1 final score.
It is illustrative for the striker of Young PSV, who has scored 10 goals in 36 games in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie. "He is a striker like you don't see very often anymore and a player others can take an example from," Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, Technical Manager of Young PSV, told me. "With his nose in front of the goal and ability to hold balls, he is a classic target man. We are happy that he will stay with PSV longer and are curious to see what steps he will take in the coming years. He has a healthy kind of stubbornness that he needs to hold on to and with the help of the people at the club can take him far."
Jesper appreciates his contract extension. "It always feels like a reward when such a big club says it wants to continue with you. I have been in training here for fourteen years now and have been involved in this since childhood. Then of course the day you can extend your contract is very special. It is a token of appreciation and a sign that you are doing well. I want to continue to do as well as possible at Young PSV and then take the step to PSV 1. For that I have to keep developing and I get all the space I need to do that here."
