Head coach Phillip Cocu expects an open match against Willem II on Saturday, he indicated at the press conference. The Tilburgers are the opponent at 6:30 p.m. at Philips Stadium.
"I am very impressed with Willem II," Cocu said of the Eredivisie number ten. "It's a good team that exudes unity. With the resources they have, they have put together a balanced selection. From the back they try to play well-kept football. With Samuel Armenteros they also have a ball-fast striker who creates a lot of danger."
Counter football
Cocu did not want to join the discussion about PSV playing too much counter football. "I don't agree with that. You have to play to your qualities as a team, because then you win matches. And that's what it's all about in the end. But it goes too far to put PSV down as a counter team that bivouacs on its own half," was Cocu's opinion.
Full-fledged selection
With Florian Jozefzoon out for the rest of the season, Cocu would like to add an extra player. "I can't say much about that, it's hard to estimate. But we only have four strikers now and that's tight. I think we need a reinforcement. But I'm not saying it's an external reinforcement." Cocu also addressed PSV's injuries. "Jetro Willems is just in the selection. He trained again after being sick." Jorrit Hendrix is not expected by Cocu to return for another two weeks. "He has now returned to training and his condition is up to standard. Only with turning and turning he still had problems. I think he needs another week or two," Cocu said.
