Cocu: 'Best first half of the season'

Cocu: 'Best first half of the season'

Phillip Cocu could not help but be satisfied with his team's performance after the 4-0 win over PEC Zwolle. "Normally I'm very critical, but about the first half I can't have much to complain about in that respect. PEC had little to say," Cocu said in the catacomb of the stadium.

Compliments
At the press conference, he built on those statements. "I think we played the best first half of the season. In all respects. With a lot of pressure forward, strong on the ball, good resolution, tight passing. That's how I like to see it," said Cocu, who saw a somewhat lesser second half but nevertheless remained satisfied. "The second half was maybe a little less. That also has to do with some conversions at Zwolle. We considered some turnovers, but I waited because we kept control of the game. In the end we decided in the closing stages. After the match I complimented the boys. Last year we sometimes had a goal or two against. Not now."

Jans: 'PSV much, much better'
PEC Zwolle coach Ron Jans resigned himself to his team's wide defeat. "We had a lot of great plans, but it didn't come out at all. Against an excellent PSV by the way. PSV was really much, much better in the first half," observed Jans, who also had a reason for that. "That's because of the results in recent weeks, I think. I saw some fear and less confidence."
