The match against Feyenoord will be a reunion with coach Dick Advocaat, who was at the helm of PSV for four years in the 1990s and another season in 2012. But it is far from the only familiar face from both clubs.
Reunion Narsingh
The match will also be a reunion with Luciano Narsingh. The striker played five years in the service of PSV before leaving for Swansea for an adventure abroad. He has since returned to the Eredivisie in service to Feyenoord. A path similar to that of Joonas Kolkka. The striker left PSV and returned to the Netherlands via various clubs abroad. First to ADO Den Haag and then Feyenoord. Meanwhile, the Finn is active again at PSV.
European success
Currently, Georginio Wijnaldum is a regular at Liverpool. Last season, the midfielder even won the Champions League with his team. He played four years in the shirt of PSV, but started his career in the Rotterdam red-white of Feyenoord. In 2011 he made the switch to Eindhoven and via Newcastle United he joined the great Liverpool. Old acquaintances like Ruud Gullit and Ivan Nielsen also made the move from Feyenoord to PSV. The latter even won the European Cup 1 in Eindhoven service.
1988
From that legendary 1988 team Nielsen was on, there were more players who have played for both teams. The most famous of them is national coach Ronald Koeman, who left for FC Barcelona after winning the European Cup 1 and ended up with the Rotterdammers six years later where he ended his career. Like goalkeeper Patrick Lodewijks who also played at PSV in 1988 and eventually ended up at Feyenoord.
Like Lodewijks, Otman Bakkal broke through at PSV, but ended his career in Rotterdam. Other famous names like Theo Lucius, Danko Lazovic and Edwin Zoetebier had periods in Eindhoven and in Rotterdam.
