PSV has played 45 previous league games against FC Utrecht at Philips Stadium. Some more special than others. In Back in the days a look back at some of these matches, such as the edition from the 1987-1988 season. Guus Hiddink's championship team scored a monster victory at the time.
Just under ten
No less than seventeen victories in a row have come from the beginning of PSV's best season in club history. And that Guus Hiddink's team had the right form early in the season, it proved on August 23 in the home game against FC Utrecht. At the time, Wim Kieft (3), Hans Gillhaus (2), Søren Lerby (2), Ronald Koeman and Frank Arnesen left their names on the scoreboard, which eventually stopped counting at 9-0. Just under ten hits.
Twice scoreless
Only in two of the 45 home games against FC Utrecht did PSV fail to score. Both in the 1982-1983 season and in 1995-1996 the game ended as it began: in 0-0. That last draw was also the last time PSV lost points at home against FC Utrecht and failed to score.

Seasons
That means PSV has won the last nineteen Eredivisie matches at the Domstadelingen' Philips Stadium, the longest running series against the teams that make up this year's Eredivisie. One of those nineteen encounters is last year's. After a first half in which virtually nothing happened, Phillip Cocu's team gained steam after halftime. Luciano Narsingh (47th) and Memphis (51st) scored in quick succession, seemingly deciding the game early. Twenty minutes before time, however, Fc Utrecht came back into the game through Yassin Ayoub and the team was close to equalizing. Barazite missed a chance, however, and Memphis decided the game in injury time with a free kick.
