PSV will play Heracles Almelo this afternoon at 4:45 p.m. at the Polman Stadium. The away match against the Heracles is the first game in the second half of the season in the Eredivisie. In Almelo begins for PSV the race that should lead head coach Phillip Cocu's team to the title in 2018.

Excellent figures for PSV in Almelo
PSV lost only once in seventeen duels on a visit to Heracles Almelo. That happened in 2015. Luuk de Jong managed to give PSV a 0-1 lead, but Mark-Jan Fledderus and Thomas Bruns ensured the 2-1 final score.

Last season, head coach Phillip Cocu's formation managed to win 2-1 in Almelo. At a 0-0 interval, goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet managed to stop a penalty by Samuel Armenteros. Later, Bart Ramselaar's 0-1 was undone by the Swede. Davy Pröpper gave PSV the three points just before time by shooting in the 1-2.

The first game between PSV and Heracles on Oct. 22, 2017 at Philips Stadium was won 3-0, with Hirving Lozano and Marco van Ginkel (2x) scoring goals. This Sunday, Ed Janssen will be the referee. Janssen also refereed the first encounter this season between PSV and Heracles. PSV managed to score in all seventeen duels visiting Heracles.

Luuk de Jong may score 100th Eredivisie goal
Luuk de Jong stands at 99 goals after 201 Eredivisie games. On Sunday, the PSV striker can score his 100th goal in the match against Heracles. The only current Eredivisie player with more than a hundred goals is Klaan-Jan Huntelaar. De Jong already scored 16 goals on artificial turf in the Eredivisie. Of all the players who never played a home game on artificial turf, De Jong is the most effective on this surface.

Negative club record
PSV conceded three goals in three consecutive away games in the Eredivisie. The last time this happened was between December 1998 and February 1999.

Good start to new calendar year
For the past three years, PSV started the calendar year with a win and without conceding a counter-goal. The last time PSV lost the opening game was away from Ajax in 2014 (1-0).
