In this round of the UEFA Champions League, PSV takes on another familiar opponent: Juventus. Earlier in this European campaign, Peter Bosz 's team and 'The Old Lady' already faced each other and now a reunion awaits.

PSV went to visit 'The Old Lady' for its very first UEFA Champions League match this season. The Italian superpower was too strong for Peter Bosz 's team, winning 3-1. Kenan Yildiz, Weston McKennie and Nicolás González were the goal scorers on the Italian side. For PSV, Ismael Saibari did something back in the closing stages, but it was not enough.

This game counted as the first game PSV played against Juventus in club history, but not the first game against an opponent from Italy. PSV played no less than 27 official duels against an Italian opponent in its history. Nine of them were won, 12 were lost and six ended in a draw.

UCL campaign
Peter Bosz 's team qualified for the next European hurdle with 14 points, finishing above Juventus, who also went through with 12 points. PSV earned four wins over Liverpool FC, Red Star Belgrade, Shakhtar Donetsk and Girona, played equal against Sporting and Paris Saint-Germain, and lost to Juventus and Stade Brest.

Current form
Juventus currently occupies fifth place in Serie A, narrowly trailing number four Lazio by two points. The team of the newly appointed Thiago Motta won narrowly in an away game with Como 1907 last weekend due to a goal in the 89th minute. The league game before that was won comfortably 4-1, but the last completed European game was lost 2-0 at home to SL Benfica.

Key pawns
Thiago Motta has several key players at "The Old Lady. Tree-high striker Dušan Vlahović has already scored 13 goals this season, while American Weston McKennie has also managed to score four times as an attacking midfielder. Kenan Yildiz and Randal Kolo Muani, recently rented from Paris Saint Germain, are also frequent goalscorers.
