After the midweek cup victory over Feyenoord, PSV awaits a Brabant derby in the Eredivisie. Willem II will visit the Philips Stadium. Head coach Peter Bosz spoke about the fitness of his squad and his expectations for the game.
How did everyone in the group come out of the game against Feyenoord?
"A few guys have had a knock, but I don't foresee that as a problem for the upcoming match. Richard Ledezma is not here. The protocol dictates that you are still not allowed in the group after a tap to the head."
You've seen Malacia at training now. What can you say about him?
"We have a nice group where it will be easy for any player to integrate. He is too short here to really say anything football-related about it. He has played at Feyenoord, at Manchester United under a Dutch coach, so he is familiar with our style of play. That requires a lot of accuracy, because if you want to put high pressure the coordination has to be good."
Are we going to see him tomorrow?
"I assume you are going to see him tomorrow, at least at the warm-up anyway."
You've been training on set pieces this past week, because you were getting a lot of goals against from those. How do you look at that at training like that?
"The fact is that we are getting more goals against and they are coming mainly from game-reservations, so it is logical that you are going to take an extra look at that. We went through the agreements very clearly: who has to do what? How are those agreements? In the end it also comes down to execution, but with the knife between the teeth. We trained again on all the agreements."
Mauro Júnioris playing good football. How do you view him as a player?
"Mauro is one of our best players right now, he's having a great season. I think his position is really left back, but he can play well in several other positions. That makes him an incredibly fine player for me. He also has the venom, which as a coach you like to have with him. I'm very happy with him."
You now have Luuk as the only real striker. Will you bring Jesper Uneken from PSV U21 into the selection?
"He will train with us and is doing excellently at PSV U21. There is of course a difference in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie and the Eredivisie, but he can now start taking steps at a fast pace. There is room for him now and so he gets a kind of crash course. That's because he can train with us every day and he's going to learn from that. Whether he'll be there tomorrow remains to be seen."
What do you expect from the duel with Willem II?
"Willem II plays very differently from NAC Breda, who visited Philips Stadium two weeks ago. So I don't expect the same kind of match. Everyone will come up with a plan and often they come up with something different than they have done lately, but we always take that into account. As always, there are multiple scenarios."
