It was looking forward again how PSV D2 reacted to a match after last week's fine performance against Ajax.
Were the boys still living with their heads in the clouds or had coach Bastiaan put his players back with both feet on the ground.
Today it was "only" against RKVVO from Oerle, last in the standings.
RKVVO or in full Roman Catholic Football Association Oerle was ready to receive PSV on the brand new artificial turf field.
PSV, by nature slow starters, always have to get into the game a bit first, is this on purpose ?( playing a bit with the opponent ) or did they have a tough day the day before ?
(They might be a bit too young for this option) so we opt for option 1.
The one who should be on the alert is the goalkeeper. In this case Pepijn who starts the first half.
He has to, after exactly 1 minute in the feet of a broken through player and does a great job. The first storm of RKVVO has then somewhat subsided,
the signal for the D2 to hunt for the first goal. Cody after five minutes with a first shot, wide.
Two minutes later, Amar along the line, keeping a good overview and passing to Robin and the 0-1 is a fact.
Cody kicks in the 0-2 from distance a little later. Surely it is easy to play football in this way.
Attempts by Armando on a corner kick, Baggio from distance and Jordan land on the fists of the goalkeeper. On a messy phase in front of the goal
of RKVVO, Roland is the last one to put his foot against the ball and it is 0-3. Match played? Apparently not, because one minute later a distance shot
from the home team and the tying goal is on the (clear) scoreboard.
From this the home team takes some courage again, but unfortunately for them, it is only short-lived. It is the productive Roland who scores the 1-4.
Just before halftime another chance for Roland but now the goal is just a little too small, and his shot goes wide.
Half-time score 1-4.
After several weeks of injury Arne makes his return to the team. And he seems to like it, judging by the warm-up at halftime.
He can watch, together with players, trainers and supporters how Cody shoots in the 1-5 after 28 seconds.
I thought I had mentioned something earlier about a slow start? Well, it was the opposite now. As if the players knew then what I was about to write next.
I could barely keep up with my notes.
Right after the 1-5, kick off, ball forward, a defensive mistake and it's suddenly 2-5. Kickoff PSV ball forward and Cody with the 2-6.
The ball pen gets hot in the hand, here comes the 2-7. This one is disallowed for offside. Postponement of execution because a few seconds later it is still there.
Robin with a peal. 2-7.
Huseyin cleverly up to Amar, pass to Justin and Justin scores his second of the day. 2-8.
At a corner kick for RKVVO, Ruud is in the right place to prevent a third goal for the home team.
The end of the match is for Amar who is on the center line and after I blinked suddenly pushes a ball in at the far post.
Fortunately for him, there are no speed cameras on a football field.
Also a mention for Jordan who put in another sterling performance in midfield.
Oh well, when things are going well in a team, the level of each player goes up. I could give them all kudos again today and mention them separately.
The report could get meters long.
It is those who follow the games of the D2 who know what I am talking about.
A team is a team, made up of sixteen players, and one cannot do without the other.
I rest My case.
Final score 2-9.
