After a football-free weekend, the o15 of PSV got to "hit the field" again. And finally in Eindhoven again. After 3 away games in a row (Vitesse, Groningen and Heerenveen), the team faced Fc Twente at their own Herdgang stadium.
This team was in 9th place after 5 games with 6 points. Both the home game against Fc Utrecht and the one against AFC were narrowly won 1-0 by the Twente side. PSV shared second place at the start with 13 points from 5. Together with Sparta they are 2 points behind Ajax.
So it was important to keep the points in Eindhoven.
Under wonderful conditions, nice autumn weather, fine (artificial grass) pitch, both teams played on the main pitch. PSV started well and from the first whistle they were clearly on top. In the 2nd minute they came through dangerously on the left flank when Joost de Schutter sent left winger Jur Clabbers into the depths. However, his cross was simply plucked out of the air by the Twente goalie before a PSV player could really become dangerous.
Six minutes later, after a nice, long attack, Jayden Braaf shot the ball just wide. Two minutes after that Jayden should have scored the opening goal. He was able to run alone towards the enemy goal, but failed to open the scoring. Twente could only counter with a free kick that was simply defused by PSV goalkeeper Peter Strijbosch.
It was not until the 21st minute that the home team finally took the lead. After a good move by Amin Doudah, he delivered the ball to the free Jayden, who was able to finish off the ball successfully: 1-0. A minute later this tandem was again responsible for danger. Again it was Amin who enabled Jayden to score, but this time the Eindhoven striker failed. Just before halftime Jeremy Antonisse passed his direct opponent on the right, and crossed the ball perfectly. Unfortunately Jur hit the ball with his head completely the wrong way so that both teams seemed to go to rest with a 1-0 score. Seemed, because Mathijs Tielemans captured the ball very cleverly at the halfway line and immediately sought the depth by sending Jayden away. This time Jayden rounded in a controlled way and made it 2-0 at halftime.
After halftime, PSV scored very quickly. This time it was Kees van Lindert who sensitively placed the ball in free space which Jayden (who else?) anticipated well. He rounded the goalie coming out of his goal as if it wasn't there and calmly slid the ball into the empty goal: 3-0.
After Joost de Schutter scored 4-0 from a free kick in the 42nd minute, and Jayden scored 5-0 in the 45th minute after a wonderful cross from Amin, a monster score seemed in the making. However, PSV took a bit of a breather. With good positional and field play they strung together a series of chances and opportunities, but the goal was not found. Nigel Lonwijk headed the ball onto the roof of the goal, Joep Kluskens hit the legs of the Twente goalie and Jayden was unsuccessful in the rebound.
After in the last minute Emanuel Matuta shot wildly and hastily over after a fine pass from Djurre Verschut, the referee whistled for the end.
Thus, PSV clearly won by large numbers, again showing good football at times. And kept the zero for the 3rd consecutive league game. And the beauty of the fact that winter time starts this weekend, is that we can enjoy all this an hour longer before the topper against Sparta......
