  1. Match report

PSV C2 recorded a hard-fought, but extremely useful victory in Tilburg on Saturday. The three points allowed Twan Scheepers' team to stay close to number two Sparta and frontrunner Feyenoord. Next Saturday, Sparta awaits at the Herdgang. With a win, PSV takes over second place from the Spartans.
PSV seemed to be heading for an easy victory on Saturday. The first quarter of an hour was one-way traffic to the Willem II/RKC goal. There were also great chances (including a ball on the post); in the end PSV made it 0-2 thanks to a fine header and a penalty shot. Towards half time PSV let go of the reins a bit and Willem II/RKC got more and more chances to come out. Just before half time this resulted in a free kick that went just under the crossbar. Halftime 1-2.
After the break PSV could only sparingly pick up the high ball pace of the first half. Willem II smelled opportunities and sometimes came dangerously close to the PSV goal. At the other end, PSV's breakaways were also promising. PSV held their breath just before time when a Willem II/RKC attacker was brought down in the penalty area. A penalty was obvious, but was not given. It remained 1-2. Not a very high quality match (except for the first fifteen minutes), but a lot of fight, tension and passion. And that is also worth something.
