Are you sitting on the bench one Saturday and then you see that your substitute scores four goals. The next game he is not there and then you stand there in your spot and what do you do to make your coach happy but also make it difficult? Yes, you score and well..... four times. And also in one half. Even more special.
Today the away game against AZ. In the last six games against AZ we've scored nine points. So we have to do better. We start brightly but the first good chance is for AZ but Zeus manages to stop the ball. Slowly (the pace is too slow) we get up to speed. And after 23 minutes a far kick from Jordy is high in front of the goal and there is Niels who makes it so hard for their goalkeeper that he doesn't get the ball and so Niels is right there to score the 0 - 1. We pinned AZ in their half and went for the second goal. After half an hour, Moussa came up on the wings and hit a perfect cross and Niels headed the 0-2 into the ropes. We still don't have enough and six minutes later Kaan hits a cross and yes there he is again, Niels lays down the 0 - 3. Great attack and well finished. Like a real striker. In the injury time of the first half, another long ball from behind by Jordy that a defender wants to put back to his keeper but, yes, Niels sees through this and it is four nil. Immediately it is halftime, what a luxury.
The coach explained at halftime that we should continue and send these guys home with a good beating, but of course the coach knew that they were already at home and we were the guests.
The second half was finished pro forma although it must be said that the best chances were for AZ and then also due to some sloppy play on our part.
The referee whistled for the last time and the score of 0 - 4 had not changed. Men a nice and very deserved (based on the first half alone) victory.
We continue towards the top and so on to the next job FC Utrecht.
See you next week.
Heard at the bar: If we are not supposed to eat snacks at night why is there a light in the fridge?
