PSV C2 started the second half of the competition excellently. In and against Utrecht they won 0-2; a score that had already been reached at halftime. For PSV it was the first match of the ´new´ league, for Utrecht on the other hand it was the second defeat. Last week it also lost 4-2 to Ajax at home.
PSV performed well in Utrecht. It played well-kept, technically sound football and came out with flashy combinations many and often. Due to a fast changeover, the opponent hardly had a chance to build and with a bit more luck the score could have been 0-3 at halftime. In the second half Utrecht pushed a little more, but the Utrecht team did not get much further than one good chance (which Ieke Scheerhoorn parried perfectly). Just before the final whistle PSV also had an excellent opportunity to make it 0-3, a result that would not have been unjustified given the pattern of the game.
Next week awaits Sparta, an opponent against whom PSV drew 2-2 in the first half of the season. Sparta lost 4-0 to AZ on Saturday. So there are definitely chances for Twan Scheepers' team.
