After a league-less weekend last week due to selection matches for the Dutch team, today a real derby from Brabant was scheduled. The C1 of PSV traveled to the city of Sint Jan, Carnival and Bosche bollen: Den Bosch. For this occasion, the team of trainers Edwin de Wijs and Joonas Kolkka was even allowed to play in the stadium. An experience the team also gained a few weeks ago at Fc Dordrecht.
PSV started the match as the leader with 13 points after 5 rounds of play. Fc Den Bosch had 6 points after the same number of games. So on paper this should be a relatively easy match. But on paper this match was not. It was on the artificial turf of the Fc Den Bosch stadium.
The Eindhoven team started the game feebly. Perhaps lulled to sleep by the warm autumn weather and ditto sunshine. The team from Bosche won almost all duels and was more threatening than PSV. Only after fifteen minutes PSV got a grip on the game. However, this did not lead to any chances. Although Leandro Fernandes was very close to a goal when his shot hit the post. Both teams went to the dressing rooms with the familiar glasses.
In the second half, PSV C1 stepped up a gear. It dominated from minute one and created a number of chances. Finally, it managed to break the spell in the 47th minute. Gaetan Bosiers sent Lars Dickens away with a pass to left back Lars Dickens, who then saw the ball reach striker Cody Gakpo via Remco Evenepoel. Easily, Cody ran the ball in to score the important 0-1.
Barely a minute later the speedy Yasin Aalillou had the perfect opportunity to score the 0-2 when he came alone in front of the Bosche goalie. His effort unfortunately went wide. The counterattack by Fc Den Bosch was immediately dangerous, but ended well wide of the goal.
In the 51st minute, PSV was awarded an unjustified free kick halfway through the Bosch half. Captain Justin Lonwijk then placed the ball in space at the far post, where Leandro Fernandes headed in to make it 0-2. Four minutes later PSV put the game definitively in the lock when Cody Gakpo scored cleverly after a long ball from behind from Jordan Teze: 0-3.
Fc Den Bosch still had some chances to score a second goal. Partly due to sloppiness in the Eindhoven rearguard during the build-up. But also in this game Arne Lekens kept his goal clean.
Just like MVV before, Fc Den Bosch ended the game with 9 men. A few minutes before time, the striker received a red card after he wanted to shoot a deflected ball hard at goal. Instead of the ball he kicked over and then hit the shin of Jordan Teze. Not an intentional foul, but more impolite and wild. However, the referee assessed the situation as red. And in the final minute, a player got red for kicking. On this card everyone was in agreement.
So despite a very mediocre first half, three points for PSV who recovered very well during the game. And can now focus on the trilogy with the Rotterdam clubs. The team of Edwin de Wijs and Joonas Kolkka will meet Feyenoord, Excelsior and Sparta in the coming weeks.
