In the away match against a weakened Willem II C2 (four players were missing and transferred to Willem II C1), PSV C2 continued the upward trend of recent weeks by winning convincingly and completely deservedly 0-4 in Tilburg.
PSV C2 dominated this match from the opening signal, but it took until the twentieth minute until PSV C2 first became really dangerous. First it was Jeroen Meefout who hit the inside of the post (1) beyond the reach of the Willem II goalkeeper. From the resulting corner Aron Schnorrenberg headed the ball well towards the Willem II goal, where the Willem II goalkeeper narrowly saved on the line. Shortly after, Endy Opoku Bernadina whipped the ball off the turn and onto the crossbar (2) of the Willem II C2 defended goal. A goal for PSV C2 could not last much longer. Nevertheless, Willem II C2 managed to reach the break with a 0-0 score.
PSV C2 continued their pursuit of the opening goal in the second half. After fifteen minutes of play, it was captain Jorrit Hendrix who went on an adventure on the left side of the pitch. In his own characteristic way he passed two or three Willem II players and sent a measured cross to Endy Opoku Bernadina, who appeared to score from close range but unfortunately only hit the post (3). The rebounding ball, however, fell to Junior Lima dos Santos (D1), who shot the ball into the goal from close range (0-1). Shortly after, Jeroen Meefout was played free in front of the Willem II goalkeeper with a clever through ball and managed to score the liberating 0-2. The linesman of Willem II flagged for offside and the referee took over the flag signal and disallowed the goal. What a disappointment!
Willem II C2 smelled their chance for the equalizer, but Jeroen Meurs managed to tap the ball from a free kick under the crossbar with a cat-like reaction to prevent a goal. PSV C2 did not let it go any further. It was striking that Willem II C2 did not create one real scoring opportunity in the entire match. The defense of PSV C2 with Aron Schnorrenberg, Sam Schuite, Jordy de Wijs and Sander Heesakkers was solid and managed to nip every Willem II attack in the bud. In the midfield, Olivier Rommens, Jorrit Hendrix and Rai Vloet won all their personal duels, allowing Willem II C2 to quickly lose possession of the hard-won ball each time. A quarter of an hour before the end of the match, Vinnie Vermeer shot the ball from a good cross by Endy Opoku Bernadina against the Willem II C2 goalkeeper, after which Junior Lima dos Santos easily tapped in the rebound (0-2). The resistance of the manfully defending Willem II C2 was broken and PSV C2 went on their way to a higher score. Endy 'Man of the Match' Opoku Bernadina was completely loose and the defenders of Willem II C2 had no control on him anymore. First Endy left the keeper of Willem II C2 defenseless again by shooting the ball, after unparalleled clearance, from outside the penalty area over the keeper of Willem II C2 into the goal (0-3). The final chord in this match was again for Endy Opoku Bernadina. Jorrit Hendrix took an excellent free kick from 25 meters from the goal of Willem II. The goalkeeper of Willem II had difficulty tapping the ball out of his goal, after which the ball fell via the post (4) to the feet of Endy Opoku Bernadina, who then scored the 0-4 final score from close range.
With this big win, PSV C2 has a spot among the top six in this league within reach, which after the winter break entitles them to participate in the national C2 competition against the top six teams from the other national first division.
