The Report
Final number five. Feyenoord comes to visit, which is tied with PSV in loss points. After last Tuesday's disappointing elimination in the UEFA Youth League by Benfica, today an ideal time to wash away the feeling. It would also be a nice boost in the race for the scale.
The beginning is strong from PSV. With fierce play and high pressure we manage not to let Feyenoord get into their game. After about ten minutes, the fierceness in midfield is the reason why we conquer the ball. A pass to Piroe followed, who outplayed his opponent well and crossed. Hattu took the ball in the penalty area and managed to shoot the ball into the goal via the post: 0-1. A quick and deserved lead. Feyenoord were unable to get a foothold in the first half. Occasionally a stray shot but Mike stood his ground. On the stroke of half-time the roles in the forefront were reversed and now it was Hattu who delivered the ball to Piroe, who shot formidably from 20 meters into the top left corner, out of reach of the hopeless Feyenoord keeper: 0-2. A masterful goal. And a deserved lead that we take into halftime.
After the break, we showed again that we have Feyenoord completely in our hands and do not want to give them the illusion that there is something to be gained at Herdgang today. After seven minutes, Piroe played the ball in to Lonwijk, who played it to Joey with a subtle move and the 3-0 was a fact. Ten minutes later it is Michal who captures the ball on the center line. He passes it to Joey, who then beats his opponent in the sixteen and makes it 4-0. A good and deserved victory over Feyenoord and PSV now has the first spot a little more firmly in their hands. Considering the number of chances the result could have been even higher.
After Tuesday's disappointment, today we have a good boost for the rest of the competition and towards the upcoming tournament in two weeks in Italy. There we will have to deal with Italian notions of defending and their view of playing games at the European level.
Lineup: Van de Meulenhof, Teze (84th Wallenberg), Soulas, Obispo,Tanriver (76th Theunissen), Sadilek, Konings, Hattu, Piroe, Lonwijk (79th Catic) and Gakpo.
